All about me…..

Hmmm, what to put here – people say I should use this section to write something extraordinary and tell you all about how wonderful and super I am.

But the truth is I’m nothing out of the ordinary.

I’m just me.

Amy.  Well, that’s my given name but depending on who you are and when we met, I am also known as Mummy, Baby, Cherry, ATM or, more irritatingly, Ames. 

I live in Reading although it’s not the only town I’ve inhabited.  I’ve lived in Northern Ireland, Stoke on Trent and Bristol (all four corners of it).  But I settled back in my home town in 2004 and have been here since.

I have a 3 and a half year old daughter, Keira and a hot geek boyfriend called J.  No pets though.  The building I live in doesn’t allow pets.  Unless you’re the homosexual man who occupies the flat below me in which case you’re allowed to own three yappy Pomeranian ‘dogs’ (I use the term dog loosely).

I used to be an individual. 

I used to be carefree and single.  I used to have a social diary fit to burst and always had enough money in my purse to buy a fabulous pair of shoes.

Note I say used to.

That part of my life is a distant memory.  A fond (if sometimes fuzzy) distant memory.

I am now a mum who works full-time to help put a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food on our table.  One of my many mantra’s is ‘I do not live to work.  I work to live’

There are a million things I want to do in life.  I want to travel.  Be a journalist. 

But everyday realities like money and a three year old remind me that sometimes my dreams need remain just that:  dreams.

And honestly, I’m OK with that. 

I don’t need to write about what dirty politician slept with what call girl, or what football team won the world cup, what our local government is doing because I have my own news to talk about – my very own set of events going on at home.

It’s like I’m own CNN or BBC. 

So I’ll blog about that.  About life and everything it has to offer.  The adventures my family and I have.  Our ups and our downs.  Keira’s Oscar winning tantrums.  There’ll even be some photos.

Sometimes I’m serious and I rant.  I make no apology for ranting.  My opinion is just that, my opinion.  And I’m entitled to it.

But mostly, I try to put some of my own humor into what I write.  I’ve been told I can be quite funny.  A little dry with my sense of humor but funny nonetheless. 

But I’ll let you be the judge of that…..
